About Melinda Stickney-Gibson: The juror of MONOCHROMATIC is Melinda Stickney-Gibson who very recently moved to Chicago, Illinois after living and working for many years in the Catskill Mountains and New York City. She has had over 25 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions throughout the US. In addition, she has curated "DIALOGUES" at Kouros Gallery, NYC; "LINE" at Butters Gallery, Portland, OR; "DRAWING SOUND" and “TERRA" at the Byrdcliffe Kleinert/James Center for the Arts, Woodstock, NY; and "SHELTER" at White Pines–Byrdcliffe Art Colony, Woodstock, NY. Her work involves a diaristic, distinctly personal, and often graphic approach, literally incorporating tiny bits of phrases from her journals, favorite fragments of writings by others, and simple words such as “yes”, “maybe”, “no?”, “her”, etc. Her sculptural work involves steel, glass, concrete, and wire, resting on wall-mounted ledges, or installed on the floor, continuing the diaristic idea of personal mark making and sense of place.
At the opening reception, curator Melinda Stickney-Gibson selected Joe Reilly’s artwork for Best in Show; he was awarded $100:
Stickney-Gibson selected Helene Manzo’s and Tracy Phillips’s works for Honorable Mentions:
