From Peaks to River

curated by Robert Langdon from Emerge Gallery

The Olive Free Library Association will present the exhibition From Peaks to River: Hudson Valley Landscape Art featuring 41 Hudson Valley visual artists' landscape works. The show, curated by Robert Langdon from the Emerge Gallery will run from September 21 through November 2 with an opening reception on Saturday September 21, 3 – 5 pm.

Robert Langdon says about this exhibition, "The Hudson Valley has been inspiring artists for centuries from the Hudson Valley River School to the current influx of transplants setting up home in the region. Over forty artists from the Hudson Valley area have been moved by the hikes, road trips, and the vistas they pass every day to pick up a camera, put brush to canvas, work in clay, paper and other media. Each sees this world of natural beauty differently and bring their own slant to their work included in From Peaks to River, that includes realism, impressionism, outsider and abstract styles. Viewers will surely recognize local natural vistas such as Kaaterskill Falls, Cooper Lake, Woodstock's Millstream, Wyndham, Falling Waters, and Big Deep, and local man made landmarks including Kingston Lighthouse, Ashokan Reservoir, Kingston/Rhinecliff Bridge, Mohonk, and Poughkeepsie seen from the Walkway Over the Hudson. Interpretations of bucolic landscapes that are plentiful throughout the region — sprawling mountains, farmland, home gardens, trails, streams, creeks and waterfronts – are included representing every season."

Langdon continues, "Please spend some time exploring the beauty of the Hudson Valley landscape through the unique visions and styles of the art included in From Peaks to River. Let the breeze tickle your skin. Let the water trickle down your back. Let the sound of nature tingle your senses. Allow yourself to get inspired to take a walk in your own backyard, or to pick up a brush or pen and inspire someone else in your own natural way."
