May 18 – July 6, 2024
The Olive Free Library Association is very pleased to present the exhibition Fabrication featuring the fiber and textiles artworks of 10 career established and emerging visual artists who have focused fully or partly on creating textiles artworks as part of their creative practice. The show, curated by Janette Kahil and Linda Schultz will run from May 18 through July 6 with an opening reception on Saturday May 18, 3 – 5 pm and an Artists' Meet & Greet event on Saturday July 6, 2:30 – 4 pm.
Janette Kahil and Linda Schultz say about this exhibition, "Fiber art is a style of fine art which uses textiles such as fabric, yarn, and natural and synthetic fibers. The focus of fiber art is on color, texture and form making it a unique genre in the art world. This art form is rooted in traditional techniques, such as weaving, knitting, and embroidery, but has expanded to include contemporary approaches and innovative techniques. The exhibition Fabrication celebrates the rich diversity of textile-based artworks through the skilled hands of regional artists. Join us as we unravel the beauty of fiber arts."
Participating artists in this show are: Florence Ancillotti, Paolo Arao, Joan Barker, Denise Giardullo, Tabitha Gilmore-Barnes, Donna Kopf, Lori Lawrence, Becca Van K, Rudy Vavra, and Grace Wapner.
