6th annual summer group show juried by Donald Elder
The Olive Free Library Association is pleased to present its sixth annual juried summer group exhibition, this year titled Define Beauty. The show, installed in the Olive Library’s spacious Community Gallery, runs from July 22 to September 9, with an opening reception on Saturday, July 22, from 3 to 5 pm. The exhibition has this year been juried by well-known and beloved Hudson Valley artist Donald Elder.
The show’s call for art resulted in an unprecedented number of artist submissions, 320 artworks by 94 artists of which 54 works, covering all styles and media, were chosen offering the community a great way to view and purchase works in various media by local and regional artists.
Define Beauty‘s participating artists are: Alan Adin, Robin Adler, Joan Barker, Robert Barnes, Samantha Brinkley, Nancy Campbell, Heather Caufield, Marie Cole, Donna Faranda, Amy Fenton-Shine, Rosemary Hanson, Martha Hill, Stephen Horowitz, Annette Jaret, Paula Kagan, Maureen Lohan-Bremer, Kathleen MacKenzie, Dorothea Marcus, Frank Manzo, Alan McKnight, Wilma Miller, Sandra Nystrom, Marianne Osiel, Susan Shaftan Perrin, Susan Phillips, Marilynn Rowley, David Schaengold, Linda Schultz, John Scribner, Amy Silberkleit, Janet Siskind, Margaret Still, Michael Valenti, Rob Wade, Pamela Wallace, and Joyce Washor.
About Donald Elder: The juror of Define Beauty is Donald Elder who started his art education at the Art Students’ League, the New York Academy of Art, and Pratt Institute. He lived in Europe studying in Paris, Florence, and Valdottavo, Italy. Elder is a three-time recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Award and received the Edward G McDowell Grant. He currently lives in Woodstock, NY, and is represented by Elena Zang Gallery. Elder applies an abstract impressionist point of view to his paintings. He has an emotional rapport with nature. His work echoes of fantasy, mystical light, and romanticism.
At the opening reception, one artist will be awarded a $100 prize for Best in Show, and there will also be two Honorable Mentions, all three artworks selected by Donald Elder.
