Carrie Bradley

Upstate NY–native singer-songwriter Carrie Bradley moved to the Catskills in 2006 after long musical chapters first in the Boston area, where she co-founded college-radio cult faves Ed's Redeeming Qualities and began her 30-year history as violinist for the Breeders, and then San Francisco, where she founded art-pop-rock band 100 Watt Smile and co-anchored alt-country band the Buckets. She has also performed and recorded with Tanya Donelly, Jonathan Richman, John Wesley Harding, the Red House Painters, Love and Rockets, and many others. Current projects include bicoastal acoustic duo the Great Auk (Burst & Bloom Records) with longtime collaborator Bernie Jungle, and her solo work. Her solo material fits her funny, phantasmagoric story-telling lyrics to sparse violin and acoustic guitar arrangements. Cookbook editor by day, she shares love of the mountain life with her husband, fiddles with a variety of folks, and elbows into the earthy drama of organic gardening at two thousand feet.

Mark Donato
At some point on most days, Mark Donato can be found in his West Shokan garage, making up songs. He recently released his sixth record, At the literal crack of dawn, on the SubFamily label -- a collection of 15 melodic, funny tunes that pry joy from the darkest corners. Before wandering up the Hudson to settle in Olive, Donato bounced around New York City's musical underground, working as a drummer and singer for John Linnell of They Might Be Giants, Flat Old World The Oswalds, Rosine, and Amy Allison and the Maudlins. Eventually, he inherited a band from a friend and began performing his own material, which was piling up. It continues to pile up. Often performing with a band of some of Hudson Valley's finest musicians, he also likes playing solo, when he can pull out selections from the dozens of songs that've been witnessed only by the walls of his garage.

Bruce Katz Duo Concert

Saturday, April 18
7:30 p.m.

$15 suggested donation and all proceeds benefit the library.

Come for an evening with the Bruce Katz Duo with Bruce Katz on acoustic piano and Aaron Lieberman on guitar and vocals.

Bruce Katz is a five-time (2008, 2009, 2010, 2015, 2018) Nominee for the Blues Music Award (W.C. Handy Award) for "Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year", selected by the Blues Foundation of Memphis, TN.

While Blues is a very important part of his music, Bruce's music has more angles and influences, occupying a unique space where blues, "soul-jazz", jam-band rock, and all aspects of Americana Music collide into a style of original music all his own. He is equally comfortable playing Hammond B-3 Organ and Piano.

Bruce has been leading the Bruce Katz Band for twenty-five years. Bruce toured and recorded with Ronnie Earl, Delbert McClinton Band, Jaimoe's Jasssz Band, John Hammond, and many other legendary artists as well. He was a member of the Gregg Allman Band from 2007-2013.

Bruce was also an Associate Professor at the Berklee College of Music for fourteen years (1996-2010), teaching Harmony, Hammond organ labs, Blues History and Private Instruction.

As a performer, Bruce has been an in-demand sideman as well as leading his own band. He has played and recorded with many of the leading names in blues and roots music, appearing on over 70 albums with artists such as Ronnie Earl, John Hammond, Delbert McClinton, Gregg Allman, Duke Robillard, Joe Louis Walker, Little Milton, Maria Muldaur, Jimmy Witherspoon, Paul Rishell, Mighty Sam McClain, Debbie Davies, David “Fathead” Newman, and many others.

Aaron Lieberman is a tremendous guitar player and a musically rich and soulful vocalist. Aaron was a founding member, guitarist and singer for God Street Wine and has played with Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, and many others over his 30-year span as a professional musician. Aaron´s energy and abilities bring new chemistry to the Bruce Katz Band.
